Count by area, on the device in your hand

Counting by shelf area rather than by an alphabetical list means you walk the walk-in once, top shelf to bottom, instead of hunting back and forth for the next item on a clipboard. The math happens as you go. Nobody transcribes anything afterwards, which is where counts usually get lost.

Par levels turn a count into an order list

Set a par for an item and the gap between par and what you counted becomes the quantity to order. The reorder list is split by vendor, so what comes out the other end of a count is the actual order you need to place rather than a number you still have to interpret.

Share the count, not the login

You can share a count link so anyone on the team can help, which turns a two hour solo job into something a couple of people knock out before service. The person counting does not need to be the person who understands the numbers.

Inventory, answered

How often should I be counting?+

Weekly for high-value and fast-moving items, monthly for the rest, is the pattern most independents land on. The honest answer is that a rough weekly count beats a perfect monthly one, because it catches problems while you can still do something about them.

Does inventory connect to food cost?+

They answer different questions. Food Cost tells you what a dish should cost. Inventory tells you what is actually on the shelf. Comparing the two is how you find waste and theft, but each is useful on its own.

Can I import my existing item list?+

Yes. Items can be imported rather than typed in one at a time, which matters if you are coming from a spreadsheet with a few hundred lines.

Does it work with Square inventory?+

Square inventory imports, so you are not rebuilding a list that already exists.
